Statement:

Public Dreams mission is to promote community participation in the arts by providing interactive and accessible public art programming. Public Dreams brings art and celebration to the community by creating participatory events, traditions and rituals that promote healthy neighbourhoods.

In 1985, it began with a dream of building better communities and celebrating the spirit of community in our hometown of Vancouver. In this dream, we would create
community celebration events that would provide mentorship and employment to our many colleagues in the arts performing artists, visual artists, and technical and production specialists. Together we would create
performances, events, and festivals that would provide opportunities for the culturally rich and diverse population of Vancouver to come together. At these events, the citizens could discover for themselves what it means to celebrate and be a part of a community.

The dream became a vision, the vision became a plan, and in 1985, the plan became reality with the creation of the Public Dreams Society. Each year PDS produces three signature events Illuminares, Parade of Lost Souls and Circus of Dreams.

Public Dreams also ongoing touring shows, such as The Fire Box and The Last Leaf. Both these shows are highly accessible theatrical presentations that allow the audience to set their imaginations free, enjoy a fun filled lively performance.
