urbanvessel is an interdisciplinary collective creating performance works rooted in the sounds and spaces of the urban environment. The diverse perspectives of the artists of urbanvessel empower us to collectively examine the cultural, acoustic, spatial, sonic and dramatic qualities of each site. Our creative motivations encompass: a fascination with the rhythm and sound poetry of language and its embodiment by performers; the varied palette of reflection, muting, and reverberation which shape movement and filter light through natural and built forms; and the richly layered cultural history of the city. Urbanvessel was founded by architect/artist Christie Pearson and composer Juliet Palmer. Works to date include FOUR LINES (soundaXis Festival 2006), SLIP (X Avant Festival 2007) and STITCH (Freefall Festival 2008).
