Interdisciplinarity is walking and chewing gum at the same time, something I never do because I'm not an American football coach. However, I do take photographs while I drive, work out scriptwriting problems while I paint, draw while I watch tv, and do watercolours while the rice is cooking.

The English Language Arts Network (ELAN) is a non-profit, integrated arts organization that exists as a meeting place - philosophical, virtual and physical - for English-language artists residing within the province of Québec. ELAN, by promoting interdisciplinary dialogue, aims to build bridges between artists from all communities and languages, and encourages and instigates collaborations and exchanges between arts and cultural organizations within rural and urban settings.

The sixth edition of the ELEKTRA festival of digital arts took place May 10-15, 2005, and featured installations, new-media performances, interactive works in public spaces and professional exchanges. The success of the festival is helping to make Montreal an important centre for digital arts in North America.

Elizabeth Chitty is an interdisciplinary artist with a body of work spanning 29 years. She has created performance, video and installation works.

Her performance work has always been interdisciplinary and has had 4 phases:

-works influenced by conceptual visual art and the multidisciplinary climate of the 70s in Canadian artist-run centres (1975-82)

-epic spectacles with multiple slide projections (1983-90)

-landscape-based, in which the audiences followed walks and trails (1992-97)

emergency exit was formed in the winter of 2001 by Kevin Rees-Cummings and Sean MacMahon.
