Submitted by Studio 303 on Tue, 02/05/2008 - 14:10.

Taking The Leap is a guide to creation and production for emerging artists in Montreal, written by Lys Stevens. It has been first published by Studio 303 in the Fall of 2002. You will find below the latest downloadable updated version on this page that has been launched at Studio 303 during Les Journées de la Culture on September 29th 2007. Special thanks to Jeunes Volontaires and to the Forum de jeunesse de l’île de Montréal at the Conseil des Arts de Montréal for their financial assistance.

Geared towards pre-professional choreographers, recent graduates, self-taught artists, and those new to the city, this guidebook offers insight into the production and presentation of dance (scheduling, budgetting, financing, promoting, etc...) Although Montreal-specific, the information contained in its pages can be applied globally as it demystifies several practical aspects of being an artist.

You can consult a spiral-bound, colour-cover copy at our Resources Center or download the book for free right here. A French version (Prendre son élan) is also available. To reproduce any part of this book for any purpose other than private use, please contact Studio 303 for copyright information.
